You’ve finally started planning the day you have always dreamed of; your wedding day! It only happens once and everything should be perfect, don’t you agree? It is crucial to hire wedding vendors you can fully trust and love. I am a wedding photographer AND a recent bride, so I am going to share with you my top 5 tips for finding the perfect wedding vendors for your special day!
They will save you so much time and stress. On your wedding day, the last thing you should be doing is setting up chairs, tables, and making sure your vendors have everything they need. It’s your day to relax and enjoy every moment, so let your planner do what they do best, and that is to make your day go smoothly.
This is especially important when hiring vendors that you will be working a lot with and communicating the most with. Those vendors would be your photographer, videographer, planner, caterer, florist, and venue manager.
If you hire a team, make sure you know exactly which team member you will be working with. This was one of my biggest mistakes when planning my wedding. During the inquiry and booking process, all of my communication, emails, and meetings was with one person, but once I officially booked them, they passed me on to someone else on their team who I had never spoken to. This created conflict because I hired this vendor because I really liked the person I had been communicating with, but now I felt like I wasn’t a priority to them. So, my advice is, during the booking process, make sure to clarify who exactly you will be working with.
It can be tempting to book the first vendor you find or talk to so you can check that off the several-page long to-do list. If you start looking for vendors early, you won’t feel as much pressure to book someone right away, and will give yourself more time to look around and explore all of your options.
As wedding professionals, we understand that our clients may not know all the terms and norms of the industry. Planning a wedding is not something you do on a regular basis! If you don’t understand something that is in a package that a vendor is presenting you, ask about it! Even being a professional in this industry, I had to ask all kinds of questions when I was looking for a planner, because I didn’t understand what exactly was being presented to me and what I would be paying for.
Wedding planning can be overwhelming and stressful at times, but it is important to remind yourself to have fun while planning your special day! This day only happens once, so remember to celebrate the little things you have accomplished. Jove Meyer Events states “Wedding planning is a lot of work, but don’t lose track of the reason for the celebration, which is love!” You should look back on your wedding day years from now and reminisce on how if you could relive those days all over again, you would.
Let’s do it! As your wedding photographer, my main goal is to create memories that make it feel like you are able to relive your wedding day over and over again. If we sound like the perfect fit, fill out my contact form and let’s start planning your special day together!
