This will be a quick little blog post, but I just wanted to share! 2021 started out on an exciting note for me, because the Velvet Love editorial that I captured in San Diego, CA was featured by Wedding Chicks!

This shoot was so much fun for me, and I really loved being able to connect with other wedding professionals in this industry! Editorials give me the opportunity to push my creativity, and this shoot in particular I was really focused on capturing the majority of it on film. This was first time that I used film in a time-constraining situation, so the process of shooting a roll, taking it out, sealing it, and putting a new roll in my camera was somewhat daunting. However, I knew that pushing myself to do this was only going to make me a better photographer. It was surprisingly easier and faster than I expected, so I’m really glad I took that risk!
This editorial really made me fall in love with film. I won’t lie, when I received my film scans back from the lab, I teared up. I actually had tears of happiness when I saw my film scans for the first time. Crazy, right? This shocked me because I’m usually not a super emotional person (except at weddings during the father-daughter dance. Gets me every time.) But I was so incredibly proud of myself for capturing these photos that it caused that reaction. It reminded me of how important it is to do things that make you proud of yourself, no matter how big or small.
