Why Are Engagement Sessions Important?

Ah, engagement sessions, I love ’em.

The short amount of time that you’re engaged is such a happy and exciting time. It’s when you get to celebrate your love and prepare for the next big chapter in your life; marriage! Like any exciting life moment, it should be captured beautifully, and that’s where I come in.

A complimentary engagement session is offered in my wedding collections for the following reasons:

1. It gives my couples the opportunity to learn how I work, and helps us get comfortable with each other.
2. It lets my couples learn how to pose with each other and find out which poses feel natural and which just don’t. This is beneficial for both of us because when you feel comfortable in a pose, it shows in the photos!
3. It’s basically like a pre-wedding trial run! If you have never shot with me before, getting into the groove of things sometimes takes a little time. This goes back to reason #1.

All of these reasons really come down to the same thing: an engagement session lets us get to know each other!!

By the end of our engagement session, everything flows. It happens every time. I know that having your picture taken can sometimes seem awkward, and kissing your other half in front of a camera isn’t always ideal. I totally get it. However, by the time I’m done with you, you’ll forget I’m even there.

Towards the beginning of my sessions I help with poses, I tell you where to put your hands, when to kiss, all that fun stuff, but by the end of it, I’m barely even speaking. Sometimes I have to tell my couples to STOP kissing so much because I need other shots! But honestly, that’s my goal. I want you to forget I’m there during your engagement session. Because come wedding day, that’s what I want to happen again. We won’t have that initial awkward “what do I do with my hands” problem! Promise.

I’ve said it a million times and I’ll say it again; I don’t want to feel like a stranger to you on your wedding day! Let’s go take some super beautiful engagement pictures and then go grab some margaritas!!
