Your wedding photos are the memories you will cherish for the rest of your life, so you want those moments well documented! Like most couples, you may be dreading the amount of time it will take to round up your family and wedding party to get some good photos. It’s your special day, you shouldn’t have to worry! In this blog, I am going to tell you how to make your photos go as smoothly as possible so we can send you on your way to cocktail hour!
About a month before the wedding, I send my clients a questionnaire asking them for day-of details, and part of that questionnaire includes asking for a shot list for group and family photos. I print out this list and bring it with me to the wedding so I can make sure we get every grouping on there!
Make sure your shot list uses names rather than titles like “mom, dad, or grandma” for when I’m calling out names for people to step in front of the camera.
Here’s a list of must have wedding photos!
It is hard to get dozens of peoples attention when there are cocktails and hors d’oeuvres just a few steps away! Keep the shot list organized by who is close by and start with the biggest group photo on your list. Then we can slowly release people if they’re not in the next wedding photos! As you get the bigger group shots out of the way, it will become quieter and more relaxed for your more intimate photos with your closest loved ones.
If you are doing a first look and taking group photos before the ceremony, start out with your bridal party photos before your family photos. The bridal party usually gets ready when you do, so it’s best to get all of those photos taken care of so your family members don’t have to be there quite as early. This makes the day go smoothly for everyone!
Trying to round up all of your loved ones at once can be overwhelming and stressful. That’s why, as a wedding photographer, it’s my job to do this for you! I don’t want my couples to feel like they need to be tracking down every family member for each photo grouping. Don’t worry, I got you!
If you need to take a break, let me know, step aside, relax your face and breathe. All that smiling is sure to make your cheeks sore!
Let’s do it! As your wedding photographer, I make sure that your day is captured based around your love for each other. My main goal is to create memories that make it feel like you are able to relive that day over and over again. If we sound like the perfect fit, fill out my contact form and let’s start planning your special day together!
