If you’re reading this blog post, you’re probably engaged & searching for the perfect wedding photographer to capture your big day. Congratulations! Finding the perfect match can feel a little stressful, but it doesn’t have to be. No matter how big or small your wedding might be, hiring a professional photographer to capture all the love, emotion, and in-between moments during your celebration will be well worth it to hold onto those memories forever.
In my opinion, this is the #1 most important factor to consider when hiring your wedding photographer. Your photographer spends all day with you on the wedding day, so you need to enjoy their energy and presence. Think about what personality traits you would want them to have, and then hop on a video call with anyone you’re considering hiring so you can get to know them better. Ask lots of questions! My booking process always begins with a call for this exact reason. It’s so important to feel comfortable with your photographer before the big day arrives!
When you’re scrolling through Pinterest and Instagram looking for wedding day inspiration, what types of photographs stop your scroll? Is it a darker, moody, and dramatic style? Or more of a light, true to color, romantic feel? Be conscious of what catches your eye, and remember that your wedding photos are meant to be printed, hung on walls, and enjoyed by future generations, so the photography style should last the test of time.
Film photography has become one of my all time favorite ways to capture your most intimate moments. “The artistic element that film brings to photography has always intrigued me, and I love the soft, elegant look that makes it so different from digital photography.”
Decide what your standard is for quick communication, and make sure your potential photographer is meeting that standard. During the booking process, if it’s taking the photographer too long to respond to your emails or your preferred communication method than you would like, then it might not be the right fit. It may seem like a small detail now, but the last thing you want to feel towards your photographer is like you aren’t a priority to them.
Do their photography packages offer everything you’re looking for? Are you able to customize their packages, or are they set in stone? Personally, I create custom collection options for each inquiry, because I know how important that was for me when I was looking for a wedding photographer. I didn’t want to feel stuck with items in a package that I didn’t really need, or feeling like I was missing out on anything.
Let’s do it! As your wedding photographer, my main goal is to create memories that make it feel like you are able to relive your wedding day over and over again. If we sound like the perfect fit, fill out my contact form and let’s start planning your special day together!
